Social, cultural, economic, and political changes have transformed the way English is taught in academic settings. Undoubtedly, new teaching practices have emerged in the last decades with the purpose of fulfilling the present authentic needs of language learners. In this scenario, English teachers, concerned about the constant world\u2019s transformations, have undertaken the challenge of updating their background knowledge regarding language learning and teaching. In the last few years, teaching training has focused on trendy topics such as online education, distance learning, digital literacy and competence, among others. Nevertheless, from a critical perspective, due to the world\u2019s abrupt changes, there are still enriching areas and issues that have remained unexplored. The VIII Seminar for English Teaching Professionals entitled \u201cTransforming Teaching Practices in the EFL Classroom\u201d has been organized with the mere objective of promoting opportunities for English teachers to tackle the challenges and reflect upon their role as language instructors and agents of change. This seminar is viewed as a platform for scholars and researchers to share the findings of serious studies and successful teaching experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 8th<\/sup> edition has been organized by the English Departments of the Teaching Major for First and Second Cycles of UNED. In this occasion, the seminar will take place in the auditorium at UNED\u2019s main headquarters, located in Sabanilla on August 24th<\/sup>, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n On this website, you will find the agenda, presenters\u2019 biographies, the registration form, and our contacts. If you properly register, you will be able to review the recordings of the two plenaries that will be presented in the seminar, as well as short videos with the outlines of workshops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Bear in mind that, even though there is free registration for this seminar, there is limited capacity.
